Looking for wines that display body and complexity emblematic of a millennia-old European winemaking tradition? You don't need to fly to France or Italy. Just stop by Benjamin Silvers tasting room in Downtown Santa Barbara. The 2010 Saviezza is a Santa Barbara super-Tuscan styled blend that embodies all these qualities while illustrating perfectly Benjamin's special attention to fine detail. This is the 10th vintage drawn from the old Tepusquet Vineyard in the Santa Maria and harvested from vines planted back in 1971 and as most great wines do, it only gets better with age.

This "Santa Barbara Super Tuscan" radiates ripe black plums, blackberry fruit, cola, anise, and cinnamon spice on the nose. After your first sip, your entire mouth fills with dark fruit flavors and intense warm spices while the tannins softly blanket your palate with a toasty mouthfeel that reminds us of a bonfire at sunset on the beach.

Barrel Regimen - I performed a saigne to bleed off some juice in the fermenter before the cold soak and fermentation began. Aging took place in Seguin Moreau French oak 500L puncheons for the first time. The extra time in barrel
and tank, 2010 has successfully married together the three grape varieties seamlessly to become its own personality.
