You guys... I have been waiting for this moment! I am beyond excited to introduce you to your very first Chenin Blanc. AKA Chenin, AKA Chenny From The Block, AKA Che-Nay-Nay. This awesome grape can produce the most beautiful nectar you have ever tasted.... IF IT'S MADE RIGHT. If it's improperly handled in the winery, it tastes awful. This wine requires the perfect balance between acid and sugar, meaning the time of harvest is crucial. Thankfully Winemaker Chris Miller knows what he's doing and was able to bring balance and harmony to this vintage. I'm always on the hunt for the next best Chenin Blanc and promise to bring you another great one as soon as I find it!
Varietal - 100% Chenin Blanc
Appellation - Paicines AVA, San Benito County
Alcohol - 13.2%
Case Production - 125 cases
Vinification and Elevage - Hand-harvested and hand-sorted. 100% whole-cluster pressed. Native yeast fermentation in neutral barriques, then aged. After 9 months, the wine is racked, lightly fined, and bottled.
Tasting Notes - Made in a “sec tendre” style, the wine retains 4 g/L of residual sugar. At these heightened acidity levels, the wine tastes completely dry but soft around the edges. Bosc pear, fresh red apple, lemon blossoms, & a clay minerality.
